Aoi Udagawa is a cellist based in Vienna. She began her music education at the age of four and started learning the cello at the age of nine while studying piano and composition on the Yamaha Junior Special Advanced Course. After gaining the Trinity Piano Performance Certificate with distinction, she continued her cello studies at the Mozarteum University Salzburg under tutelage of Prof. Heidi Litschauer, before further progressing her studies in Freiburg, Germany.

Studying under Prof. Christoph Stradner, she has recently completed her degree at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna.

Aoi has performed in numerous recitals and concerts within Europe and Asia including countries like Austria, Germany, France, Switzerland, Sweden, Brussels, Italy, Russia, Thailand and Malaysia. With great passion for chamber music, she is also an active chamber musician and has received several awards in various international competitions, such as the Grand Prize Virtuoso in Austria and the International Saverio Mercadante Clarinet Chamber Music Competition in Italy.

She has performed as a member of the String Quartet concerts in Musikverein in Vienna, as well as Clarinet Trio performances in Switzerland and Austria, and piano trio recitals in Germany and in Asia. Apart from classical music, she also has experience in performing various other music styles, including Tango and World music with different chamber ensembles. Aoi has participated in masterclasses with distinguished music professors Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, Wolfgang Boettcher, Jean-Guihen Queyras, Jian Wang, Jean-Bernard Pommier, Jörg Widmann, Natalia Gutman and gained different perspectives and inspirations for her cello playing.

She has also contributed in a number of festivals including the Internationale Musikakademie fur Solisten (IMAS) held in Germany and the Aurora Chamber Music Festival in Sweden.
